Handguns, rifles and shotguns arrived at the Omega Center banquet hall at 3900 Goodfellow Boulevard on Saturday, toted by owners taking advantage of the St. Louis Police Department's one-day gun buyback program.
"I didn't have no use for it," said Leroy Cole, 58, of Jennings, who was handed $50 cash in exchange for the shotgun from his upstairs bedroom. "Of course this works for me. People have stuff like this and nowhere to get rid of it. It could end up in the wrong hands," he said.

Does anyone really believe the cops are going to allow the assault rifles to be melted down?

Yeah , I agree with LFD ... those "salt weapons" will be going into someones private collection .
They probably near about drool all over the stock they take in , like an early Christmas or something coming right to 'em .
My bet is the cops are taking them home. Wonder how many fist fights ensue over the divvying up of the spoils?
