PEORIA, Ill. -- A 13-year-old boy used a handgun to rob a Peoria bank before police caught him hiding in a nearby garage after a foot chase.Police say the teen used the gun to rob South Side Bank on Monday. They say he fled the bank with the weapon and a bag of money wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a red bandana on his face.Police apprehended him 36 minutes after the robbery was reported. They say the money bag contained a red dye package that had exploded. Police say the teen's sweatshirt was covered with red dye.Authorities found the gun and money near where they arrested the boy.

St. Peters police investigating credit card thefts

ST. PETERS - Police are looking for two people who authorities say spent more than $30,000 with stolen credit cards.

Police say a man and woman stole credit cards Feb. 14 from the wallet of a customer at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in St. Charles.



The pair (pictured exiting a store) then used the stolen cards at Sam's Club and Costco in St. Charles County, police said.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call St. Peters police at 636-278-2222.

Czechs throw out ex-Klan leader

Duke once held a seat for Louisiana in the House of Representatives
Czech authorities have ordered a former Ku Klux Klan leader, David Duke, to leave the country.

The 59-year-old American was invited to the Czech Republic by a local far-right group and had planned to give lectures and promote a book.

But on Friday he was arrested and questioned by police on suspicion of denying the Holocaust, an offence under Czech law.

Mr Duke has not been charged, but was ordered to leave the country.

He has reportedly been given a deadline of midnight on Saturday.

His lawyer was quoted in local media as saying she would lodge a complaint against the police on his behalf.

The Czech interim prime minister-designate, Jan Fischer, appeared on Czech television to say the opinions expressed in Mr Duke's book were "simply unacceptable, incomprehensible".

David Duke is a former Grand Wizard of the notorious white supremacist Ku Klux Klan group. He once held a seat for Louisiana in the House of Representatives, and made an unsuccessful bid for the US presidency.

Of all the people I've spoken with about AG Edwards, they always say how great a place it was to work. There are a lot of companies in St. Louis that are great to work for. Since AG was bought by Wells Fargo, I don't know how it will be at AG now, but Wells Fargo has been a good bank for me and I'm sure they will maintain the same high customer standards with AG. As long as Wells doesn't ship mexicans and other muds here. Anyway, I thought you might like to see what a real Midwestern White Man was like, where the concept of cheating or shearing the sheep were alien to him. It is with deep sadness that we let you know that Benjamin F. Edwards III, a member of the board of directors of Benjamin Edwards, Inc., died today at his home in Naples, Fla. He was 77. His wife, Joan, and his four children were at his side.

Words alone cannot express the great loss we are feeling right now. So many of us have special memories of Ben. As the longtime chairman, chief executive officer and president of A.G. Edwards, Inc., Ben created a corporate culture that was second to none. His staunch belief in the Golden Rule and the "client first" philosophy helped build a firm that not only provided unparalleled service to its clients, but also shaped each of us as employees and leaders in our own right. Ben did more than chart a course for us, he was a man who led by example. His kindness, integrity, trust and humor set him apart as a corporate and civic leader, family man, friend and servant of God.

Ben had always said, "A.G. Edwards is in the business of touching lives." Ben sure touched ours.



ARRANGEMENTS:

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 27 at 4 p.m. at Powell Symphony Hall, 718 N. Grand Blvd., St. Louis. All are welcome.

The family will also welcome visitors on Sunday, April 26 from 12 to 7 p.m. at the Bogey Club, 9266 Clayton Rd., St. Louis, Missouri.

US Military Finally Useful for Something

An unnamed US official told the Associated Press news agency that Capt Phillips was freed in what appeared to be a swift firefight.

Reports say he jumped overboard for a second time, and the pirates were shot and killed before they could take action to get him back.

US forces apparently took advantage of the fact one of the pirates was negotiating on the USS Bainbridge when the incident happened.

That must have been the best high those snipers ever had. Shooting Africans on a boat! Please, release the video!

The Great Redeemer Overcomes the Children of Murder and Lies

Even though this is a Pre-Christian holiday, when our ancestors celebrated the rebirth of the Earth and the coming of the season, the Christian world still celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And as Pastor Peters says, we should at least give thanks that the Judeos chose one day to remember it.

What is the beauty of the Resurrection Story? The jews, who use murder as a political weapon to silence and intimidate their enemies, could not do the same to Christ! He overcame as a sign that we shall overcome, and that having faith, the gates of hell will never prevail over our people or the nations.

Even after Christ had risen, the jews still tried to kill the truth. We read in Matthew 28 the conspiracy to hide the good news!

The ancient world has many examples of festivals to bring in spring with similar themes to the Christian tradition such as the Greek legend that tells of the return of Persephone, goddess of the earth, from the underworld symbolising the resurrection of life.



In ancient Rome, the followers of Cybele believed that their goddess had a consort who was born via a virgin birth. His name was Attis, and he died and was resurrected each year during the time of the vernal equinox on the Julian Calendar (between March 22 and March 25). Around the same time, the Germanic tribes honored a lunar goddess known as Ostara, who mated with a fertility god around this time of year, and then gave birth nine months later – at Yule.



The ancient Aryans celebrated the beginning of spring on March 25 when the first full moon occurred. This symbolized the growth of grass, leaves, crops - life itself. The Christians, not knowing the exact date of Christ's crucifixion, chose the first Sunday after first full moon to be Easter, the day Christ rose from the dead - back to life. The Aryan Odinist religion called this day Eastra, after their god Eastra (called by the Germans Ostara), the goddess of spring and new life. Baby bunnies and chicks were Eastra's special animals because they symbolized new life and fertility. It was said that "She resurrected the dead world with new greenery." What about Easter Eggs and the Easter Bunny?

According to the Venerable Bede, Eostre was the Saxon version of the Germanic goddess Ostara. One delightful legend associated with Eostre was that she found an injured bird on the ground one winter. To save its life, she transformed it into a hare. But "the transformation was not a complete one. The bird took the appearance of a hare but retained the ability to lay eggs...the hare would decorate these eggs and leave them as gifts to Eostre."

Let's Eat!

Traditional foods play a part in this holiday, as with so many others. Ham is the traditional main course served in many families on Easter Sunday, and the reason for this probably has to do with the agricultural way of life in old Europe. In late fall, usually in October, also known as the month of the Blood Moon, because it referred to the last time animals were slaughtered before winter, meats were salted and cured so they would last through the winter. Poorer people, who subsisted on farming and hunting, would often eat very sparingly in winter to assure their food supply would last. With the arrival of spring, there was less worry, and to celebrate the arrival of spring and of renewed abundance, they would serve the tastiest remaining cured meats, including hams. This also marked a seasonal end to eating cured foods and a return to eating fresh game (as animals emerged from hibernation looking for food), and no longer relying on stored root vegetables, but eating the young green plants so full of the vitamins and minerals that all living beings need to replenish their bodies in spring.

Memorial Service for Mike Plaatje

The Reason For The Passover

1 Corinthians 5:7 - Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.
